Seawall repair across Charlotte County

We take seawall, dock and boat lift requests in Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, Englewood and Rotonda, and pass them to independent local marine contractors. Where your home sits decides which rules to check first.

Free to ask. We are a referral service, not a contractor.

Punta Gorda

Punta Gorda has the most to check before you hire anyone. The City maintains canal seawalls under its canal maintenance program, so the first question for a canal home is whether your stretch of wall is in it. Only the City can answer that. Our canal seawall page explains what to ask.

Hurricane Ian left a long repair list. WGCU reported in 2023 that nearly 600 Punta Gorda properties had some level of seawall damage. The City split its Punta Gorda Isles rebuild into five work zones, each with a schedule that looks six months ahead and is updated monthly, and has also been rebuilding walls in Burnt Store Isles.

If the City says it isn't theirs

We don't publish a list of which canals the City maintains. We haven't confirmed one, and the City's own answer for your address is the one that counts.

Port Charlotte

Port Charlotte homes fall under Charlotte County's permitting, not the City of Punta Gorda's. For a canal or harbor-front wall that usually means the county's residential seawall permit, with a plan that meets county code and any FDEP or Army Corps approvals when the work is over state or federal waters. Our permits guide walks through it.

The county's own projects show how much work is happening on this shore. Its project pages list seawall replacements at Bayshore Live Oak Park in Port Charlotte and at the Charlotte Harbor Event Center. Fox4 also reported that Harbour Heights Park could get a new seawall and pier after Ian; we haven't confirmed whether that went ahead.

Englewood and Rotonda

Charlotte County's seawall permit applies to properties inside the county. Englewood straddles the line with Sarasota County, so confirm which side of it your address is on before anyone prices the job.

Englewood. Canal and bayfront homes. Ask the contractor which county's permit applies to your address. The permit process on the Sarasota County side is the county's to explain, not ours.

Rotonda. Rotonda West and nearby waterfront are in Charlotte County, so the county's residential seawall permit process applies. The same state and federal rules apply as everywhere else in the county.

State and federal rules. FDEP's rule 62-330.051 and Army Corps permits don't change at a county line. See the permits guide for the exemptions and their conditions.

Elsewhere in Charlotte County. Send the address with your request and we'll check whether contractors cover it. The FAQ covers the questions owners ask most.

Tell us the address and the wall. Local marine contractors quote it.
